Alexander Freed est un auteur américain accompli, particulièrement reconnu pour son travail dans les genres de la science-fiction et de la fantasy. Il est surtout connu pour sa série Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron, qui a consolidé sa réputation d'auteur best-seller du New York Times. Les écrits de Freed couvrent divers supports, tels que les romans, les bandes dessinées, les nouvelles et les jeux vidéo, démontrant ainsi son adaptabilité et son talent diversifié.
Né près de Philadelphie, Freed réside actuellement à Austin, au Texas. Ses œuvres sont souvent marquées par des éléments distinctifs de sa ville natale. Au cours des 15 dernières années, il a occupé divers postes, tels que concepteur de jeux, éditeur, scénariste de bandes dessinées et romancier. Durant cette période, il a contribué à une variété de projets, des jeux vidéo à succès grand public aux anthologies de petites presses.
Entre 2006 et 2012, Freed a fait partie de l'équipe d'écriture interne de BioWare, un important développeur de jeux vidéo.
