Andrea L. Rogers est une autrice de littérature jeunesse et de fiction historique, qui est également citoyenne de la Nation Cherokee d'Oklahoma. Née et élevée à Tulsa, elle a étudié à l'Institut des arts amérindiens et des arts algonquiens, où elle a obtenu son MFA en écriture créative. Actuellement, Rogers poursuit ses études en tant que doctorante en anglais à l'Université de l'Arkansas, tout en passant du temps à Fort Worth, au Texas, avec sa famille.
Rogers a reçu plusieurs distinctions pour son travail d'écriture, dont son livre "Mary and the Trail of Tears: A Cherokee Removal Survival Story", qui a été nommé meilleur livre de l'année 2020 par NPR et American Indians in Children's Literature. Elle est membre de la Société des écrivains et illustrateurs pour enfants et siège au conseil d'administration de la bibliothèque publique de Fort Worth.
En plus de son travail pour enfants, Rogers écrit également de la fiction et des essais pour adultes. Ses essais "Lifting While She Climbs" et "My Oklahoma History" peuvent être trouvés dans les publications "Allies from Dk Publishing" et "You Too? 25 Voices Share Their #MeToo Stories from Ink Yard Press", respectivement. Sa nouvelle courte "The Ballad of Maggie Wilson" a été présentée dans l'anthologie récompensée "Ancestor Approved: Intertribal Stories for Kids", publiée par Heartdrum/Harper Collins.
Rogers a plusieurs projets à venir, dont les livres illustrés "When We Gather/Alisdayvdi: A Cherokee Tribal Feast", illustré par Madelyn Goodnight, à paraître chez Heartdrum en 2024, et "Chooch Helped", à paraître chez Levine Querido. Son premier livre, "Mary and the Trail of Tears: A Cherokee Removal Survival Story", a été publié par Capstone en 2020 et a reçu des critiques élogieuses.
