Originally from the United Kingdom, Carly Schabowski is a highly respected author of historical fiction, best known for her 2021 novel "The Rainbow." Developing an interest in history from a young age, Schabowski pursued this passion in her writing career.
Before becoming an author, Schabowski worked as a journalist in North Cyprus and Australia, then returned to Oxford to study creative writing at Oxford Brookes University. She now works there as an associate lecturer in Creative Writing for first and second-year English literature students.
Schabowski's debut novel, "The Ringmaster's Daughter," was published by Bookouture in July 2020, followed by "The Watchmaker of Dachau" later that same year. Both novels are set in 1940s Europe and explore themes of survival, human suffering, and love in desperate and uncertain times. Schabowski's writing is known for its meticulous attention to historical detail and powerful emotional impact.
In addition to her successful writing career, Schabowski is a USA Today bestseller of historical fiction novels, including "The Ringmaster's Daughter," "The Watchmaker of Dachau," "The Rainbow," and "The Note." She lives in a small cottage in Oxfordshire with her two dogs. Schabowski's interest in WWII history is inspired by a familial connection, and she holds a PhD regarding the author's responsibility to historical fiction. Despite her academic achievements, Schabowski is known for being a recluse and enjoying reading, writing, eating chips, and the occasional gin.
