Donald J. Sobol

Donald J. Sobol était un auteur renommé et inspirant, principalement connu pour sa série de romans pour enfants "Encyclopedia Brown". Né à New York, Sobol a fréquenté l'Ethical Culture Fieldston School de NYC, où il a obtenu son diplôme en 1942. Sa vie a pris un tournant significatif pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale lorsqu'il a servi dans le théâtre du Pacifique au sein du Corps du génie de l'armée.

Après la guerre, Sobol a repris ses études à Oberlin College, obtenant un baccalauréat. Il a ensuite entamé une carrière journalistique, commençant comme garçon de copies et progressant pour devenir reporter au New York Sun. En 1949, Sobol a obtenu un poste au New York Daily News, un poste qu'il a occupé pendant deux ans avant de devenir acheteur au bureau new-yorkais de Macy's. Cependant, sa véritable passion se trouvait ailleurs, et il a finalement déménagé en Floride pour devenir auteur à temps plein.

La carrière d'écrivain de Sobol a décollé avec la série "Two Minute", une série syndiquée à succès qui a duré plus d'une décennie. En 1963, il a écrit le premier roman de la série bien-aimée "Encyclopedia Brown", "Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective". La série est publiée annuellement depuis sa création et a été traduite en plus d'une douzaine de langues, making Sobol un auteur récompensé et reconnu au niveau mondial de livres pour enfants. Malheureusement, Donald J. Sobol est décédé en juillet 2012.
