Gary Whitta est un scénariste et auteur primé, surtout connu pour son travail au cinéma, à la télévision et dans les jeux vidéo. Il s'est fait remarquer en écrivant le thriller post-apocalyptique "The Book of Eli", avec Denzel Washington, et en coécrivant le film de science-fiction "After Earth". Ses contributions au jeu "The Walking Dead" de Telltale Games lui ont valu un BAFTA, et il a ensuite élargi son portfolio avec des projets comme "Star Wars Rebels" et le très attendu "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story".
Au-delà du scénario, Whitta possède un parcours créatif diversifié, incluant son poste de rédacteur en chef du magazine PC Gamer. Son style narratif explore souvent des thèmes dystopiques et de science-fiction, comme en témoignent son premier roman, "Abomination", et son adaptation de la bande dessinée de Mark Millar, "Starlight", pour le compte des studios 20th Century Fox.
