Hugh Sebag-Montefiore est un journaliste et historien dont les œuvres se concentrent sur des événements militaires décisifs et des récits historiques. Il a gagné en reconnaissance avec son premier livre d'histoire, "Enigma: The Battle For The Code", publié en 2000, qui explore la capture des livres de codes Enigma du sous-marin allemand U-110 - une histoire liée à la connexion de sa famille avec Bletchley Park. Son livre suivant, "Dunkirk: Fight To The Last Man" (2006), plonge dans l'évacuation des forces britanniques pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, s'appuyant sur des témoignages familiaux personnels.
Avant de se tourner vers l'écriture historique, Sebag-Montefiore a exercé en tant qu'avocat puis a contribué à des publications britanniques prestigieuses, notamment le "Sunday Times", le "Sunday Telegraph" et l'"Observer".
