Ingrid Persaud est une auteure largement primée, originaire de Trinité-et-Tobago. Elle a étudié le droit à la London School of Economics et a également poursuivi des études en beaux-arts au Goldsmith College et au Central St. Martins. Avant de devenir romancière, Persaud a enseigné le droit au King's College de Londres et a travaillé comme artiste visuelle et gestionnaire de projets. Elle partage désormais son temps également entre Londres, en Angleterre, et la Barbade.
Persaud s'est imposée comme une auteure de premier plan, se concentrant principalement sur la fiction littéraire. Elle a écrit deux romans complets et une nouvelle, tous ayant valu à leur auteure plusieurs prix littéraires prestigieux. Son premier ouvrage, une nouvelle intitulée "The Sweet Shop", a remporté le Prix du récit court du Commonwealth 2017 et le Prix national du récit court de la BBC 2018. Cette charmante histoire met en scène un homme trinidadien qui se réconcilie avec son père grâce au chocolat.
En 2020, Persaud a publié son deuxième roman, "Love After Love", publié par Random House aux États-Unis et Faber au Royaume-Uni. Les compétences exceptionnelles de Persaud en matière d'écriture lui ont valu une reconnaissance et une renommée méritées, faisant d'elle une figure majeure de la littérature contemporaine.
