Jim Harrison

Jim Harrison est un auteur américain réputé, reconnu pour sa polyvalence en matière de poésie, de fiction et de non-fiction. Il est né à Grayling, dans le Michigan, de Winfield Sprague Harrison, agent agricole du comté, et de Norma Olivia (Wahlgren) Harrison, tous deux grands lecteurs. Harrison a fréquenté l'école Haslett dans le Michigan et a poursuivi ses études à l'Université d'État du Michigan.

Harrison est surtout connu pour sa fiction, en particulier sa trilogie de nouvelles, Les Légendes de l'automne, qui a ensuite été adaptée au cinéma. Son écriture se déroule souvent dans des régions peu peuplées d'Amérique du Nord, telles que les dunes de sable du Nebraska, la péninsule supérieure du Michigan, les montagnes du Montana et la frontière Arizona-Mexique. Ces décors reflètent l'amour de Harrison pour les grands espaces et son appréciation de la beauté de la nature.

Outre sa fiction, Harrison était un poète prolifique, ayant publié plus de trois douzaines de livres de poésie tout au long de sa carrière.
