Lisa Unger est une auteure à succès américaine, réputée pour ses romans à suspense-thriller. Née à New Haven, Connecticut, elle a passé son enfance aux Pays-Bas et au Royaume-Uni en raison des nombreux déménagements de sa famille. Ces premières expériences l'ont amenée à être une observatrice attentive, une compétence qui lui sera utile plus tard dans sa carrière d'écrivain.
Unger a écrit de nombreux romans, dont certains sous le nom de plume Lisa Misicone. Son personnage principal est Lydia Strong. Elle a acquis une reconnaissance significative pour son travail, notamment en étant une auteure best-seller du New York Times et en ayant ses romans traduits en 26 langues différentes. Divisant son temps entre la Floride et New York, elle vit actuellement avec son mari et sa fille.
En tant qu'auteure très appréciée, Unger a reçu de nombreux éloges pour son travail. Elle a été nominée ou a remporté plusieurs prix, dont les prix Strand Critics, Audie, Hammett, Macavity, ITW Thriller et Goodreads Choice. En 2019, elle a reçu deux nominations aux Edgar Awards, un honneur partagé par quelques auteurs seulement, dont Agatha Christie.
