Tim Pratt est un auteur américain reconnu pour ses œuvres de science-fiction et de fantasy. Il a remporté le prix Hugo pour sa nouvelle "Impossible Dreams" et a été nommé pour des distinctions prestigieuses telles que les prix Nebula, Mythopoeic, World Fantasy et Bram Stoker. Ses publications couvrent plusieurs genres, notamment des romans de fantasy contemporaine comme "The Strange Adventures of Rangergirl" et "Briarpatch", ainsi que des adaptations de jeux de rôle et de la poésie. Pratt écrit également sous les pseudonymes T.A. Pratt et T. Aaron Payton, ce dernier étant utilisé pour son roman historique déjanté "The Constantine Affliction".
Né à Goldsboro, en Caroline du Nord, Pratt a grandi dans le Sud américain avant de s'installer en Californie du Nord en 2001. Il est titulaire d'une licence en anglais de l'Appalachian State University et occupe le poste de rédacteur en chef adjoint pour "Locus Magazine". Sa série la plus étendue, écrite sous le nom de T.A. Pratt, met en scène la sorcière Marla Mason et compte huit livres à ce jour. L'écriture de Pratt mêle souvent un humour noir à un univers imaginaire riche, explorant des thèmes comme la magie, la moralité et l'aventure. Il a également co-dirigé des anthologies, dont "Rags and Bones" avec Melissa Marr. Pratt vit à Berkeley, en Californie, avec sa famille.
