William Wilberforce était un homme politique britannique, philanthrope et abolitionniste de premier plan, surtout connu pour sa campagne de toute une vie contre la traite transatlantique des esclaves. En tant que membre du Parlement, il a joué un rôle déterminant dans l'adoption du Slave Trade Act de 1807, qui a aboli la traite des esclaves dans l'Empire britannique.
